We typically avoid the large, all inclusives opting for small, quiet boutique hotels. We found Hacienda Real a perfect choice. It's only a city block away from the main pedestrian way (5th Ave) and two city blocks from the beach. At the same time however, it is very quiet and serence due to an open interior which surrounds the pool. We spent several late afternoons relaxing by the pool as the sun slowly set. The staff was very professional and eager to serve their guests. The hotel also has a nice attached restaurant with good food and friendly wait staff. We would definitely stay there again on future visits to Playa del Carmen.

The Hacienda Real, located at the corners of Avenida 10 and Calle 10, is one of the most elegant little secrets in Playa del Carmen. A beautiful boutique hotel right in the middle of all the "action" -- a couple of blocks from the beach (big, long, beautiful beach) and just one block to get on the shopping/eating/drinking alameda of Avenida 5. The interior of the hotel is just plain gorgeous and the rooms are well-appointed and extremely clean. As well, it is quiet, even with the nighttime "bustle" of Playa. The staff, although not totally fluent in English are very helpfull and friendly. The entire flavor of the popular Playa del Carmen is right out your front door. We will recommend this hotel to anyone/everyone. And, we would stay there without hesitation.

Hotel FAVOLOSO!!! Siamo stati 3 settimane in Messico e cambiato hotel ogni 2 giorni. Questo hotel è il più bello che abbiamo trovato, ci siamo fermati 3 notti e siamo andati via a malincuore....Avevamo una camera grande ed accogliente, con balconcino su una via interna. I letti erano comodissimi ed avevamo 6 cuscini a testa!!!!!Il bagno era uno spettacolo. La pulizia è eccezionale. Nonostante la posizione centrale(a 2 passi dalla 5° av. e dal mare) la quiete di questo hotel è incredibile. La piscina è piccolina ma è una vera e propria oasi di relax! Il personale è gentilissimo...insomma, è un hotel assolutamente da non perdere!!!!

When we booked at Hacienda Real del Caribe by Encanto we were taking a risk since there were no reviews posted and were going basically off pictures and location. I had done a lot of research on hotels and could not believe it when I found such a nice hotel only two blocks away from the beach. It was amazing! The rooms were very nice and clean, bathrooms were spacious, we had a very nice balcony overlooking the street, and although we were only one block away from Quinta Avenida we did not hear any noise at night and were able to sleep soundly (the margaritas might have helped with that . . . .) The staff were all very nice and polite. Alvino was very helpful, we called him into our room three times on our first day to help us with the safe, toilet, and refrigerator, and he patiently assisted us with every need we had. Don’t forget to tip busboys and housekeeping. They do a wonderful job. The restaurant in the hotel was very nice as well. We ate breakfast there twice. For a quick snack there was a pizza place across the street with thin crusts sold by the slice. Down Quinta Avenida towards the ferry there are stands of fresh tacos, tortas, corn on a stick, churros, and fresh sliced fruit in a cup. At times we spent only $5 for supper for two. The food on the street was amazing and the ultimate mexican experience. This was an experience we will never forget. We plan on returning to Playa and booking at Hacienda Real del Caribe by Encanto again.
